Microsoft is making subreddits more searchable with Bing

Image
Microsoft today announced a partnership with Reddit to surface the social news site’s content high up in Bing search results, so that searching for specific Reddit communities, pages, and info will spit back information gleaned from subreddits, AMAs, and other threads in a dedicated section. The news, part of a suite of new artificial intelligence-powered features underlying Bing’s search function, works by way of what Microsoft calls intelligent search. The company says intelligent search uses natural language processing to pair Reddit content with the appropriate search terms. The Reddit integration works in three ways. First, by typing in the name of a subreddit on Bing, you’ll get a live snapchat of that subreddit’s top threads displayed in the search results with links to the individual pages. Bing will also include Reddit AMA questions and answers for a celebrity who’s done an AMA, with the content showing up on the person’s search card, which will be accessible just by sear...

Firefox’s Quantum Browser Delivers Faster Performance

Image
Mozilla Firefox has been fighting a losing battle against Google Chrome for the past few years. Firefox’s share of the browser market has shrunk dramatically, its once-dominant position chewed down to a minority. All versions of Firefox currently have a 9.1 percent market share, below IE + Edge and Safari. Everything from the UI (now codenamed Photon) to the underlying browser engine (Servo) has been built new, from the ground up. The new engine has been parallelized and should be substantially faster, and Mozilla believes it can use its new Servo engine to enable capabilities like mixed-reality ...

Nike new Midnight Fog edition of the Apple Watch Series 3

Image
Nike announced today that it’s releasing a limited edition Midnight Fog Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE that’s designed to match its upcoming Air VaporMax running shoes. The Watch will be available tomorrow at nike.com and in retail stores for $399, while the Air VaporMax will sell for $190 starting on November 24th. It’s the second time Nike’s released a special line of Apple Watch products alongside corresponding sneakers. Earlier this year, Nike released the Day to Night collection designed to match the VaporMax Flyknit shoes. It featured four different sport bands with perforated holes that you could purchase separately from the watch. It doesn’t look like there are plans to sell the Watch Band separately yet, so if you want a band that’s “deep greys with iridescent accents“ without buying a whole new Apple Watch, thankfully, there’s a cheaper solution. To the untrained eye (at least mine), there’s barely any difference between the Midnight Fog band and the Black Sport Loop...
